Collaborating with the UK Government to create safer roads for everyone

We’re committed to being there for our customers when they need us most, offering reassurance, relief and support after something has gone wrong. But as an insurer, our responsibility goes further. We also have a role to play in helping prevent incidents before they happen. It’s why we offer telematic insurance products which reward safer driving behaviours.
In Britain, around 24 per cent of fatal or serious injury collisions involve 17–24 year-olds. As a major UK insurer covering 5.8 million vehicles, many driven by new or younger drivers, we’re in a unique position to help influence safer driving habits and make roads safer for everyone. However, we know this isn’t something we can solve alone.
That’s why collaboration is so important. Recently, James Armstrong, UK Motor Claims Director, joined a roundtable at the House of Commons alongside Andy MacNae, MP for Rossendale and Darwen, representatives from the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS), motor insurers and technology partners. Together, they explored how better data-sharing and cross-industry collaboration can help reduce incidents involving young and new drivers, and ultimately help save lives.
